Inter to raise their game in the derby d'italia
One of the fiercest rivalries in Serie A takes place this weekend as Inter host Juventus in the derby d’italia and the Nerazzurri should go into this with confidence.
The Champions ain’t that good
Juventus may already be champions and they may have strolled to the title but it is not quite as clear cut as it appears.
The Bianconerri have been disjointed in recent efforts despite the quality at their disposal. Crashing out of the Champions League against Ajax was seen by some as a shock.
Far from it as Juve have been struggling to play the kind of football required to beat top teams and have been very fortunate on more than one occasion.
Nine wins in their last 11 is, to a certain extent, papering over the cracks. This Juve side will need more dynamism, more creativity and be more willing to give their younger players a chance next season if they are to maintain their domestic dominance. Recent defeats to Genoa and SPAL are the warning shots Juventus should take heed of rather than dismiss.
Inter should relish facing this side and enter the derby d’italia with absolutely no fear. Napoli showed that same confidence in the fixture in early March and were hugely unlucky not to come away with at least a point.
Time to put it right at the San Siro
The Inter fans have not had a lot to cheer about in the last three home games. Back-to-back draws with Atalanta and Roma were preceded by a defeat at the hands of Lazio.
This has made their Champions League place a little less safe even if it is very unlikely they will fall out of the top four. Luciano Spalletti will be demanding more from his side, even though they created the better opportunities against Roma.
Head-to-head
You’d think with Cristiano Ronaldo that Juventus would be the most creative side in the top division but they are not even close.
Inter have created 202 chances this season compared to Juve’s 185, ranking them sixth in Serie A.
Inter’s problem is they have been terribly wasteful and the issues with Mauro Icardi have just compounded them.
Lautaro Martinez has shown glimpses of his potential and over the next couple of season should become one of the best strikers in Italy. He could lead the line again in a 4-2-3-1 with Radja Nainggolan playing just behind.
Inter Milan - Juventus betting tip
This is a derby that has more riding on it for Inter than Juve and the scoreline may well reflect this. With that in mind, backing Inter to win by a score of 2-1 at odds of 35/4 should be under some serious consideration.
