Inter need a win

Inter host Cagliari at the Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday afternoon looking to avoid a third straight victory-less game whilst the Sardinians are looking to get back to winning ways after a streak of six games without a win.

Inter

The blue and blacks are in the midst of a pretty hectic transfer window and will be very keen to add a few experienced faces in order to boost their chances of bagging the Scudetto ahead of Juventus.

Risk of falling too far behind

Especially given the fact that I Nerazzurri have been held to draws in their two last games meaning that Juventus have been able to pull four points clear of second placed Inter.

Inter's faithful will be, despite two straight draws, feeling very optimistic given the fact that they have only lost a single game all season (against Juventus) and are now up against a Cagliari who are struggling for form.

Dauntingly strong

Antonio Conte's men have amassed five clean sheets in ten home games and have the impressively strong goal difference of 18-7. I am fully expecting Lukaku (14 goals) and Martinez (10 goals) to take advantage of the visitors poor form and build upon their already huge goal tally.

Given that Lazio are right on their heels (two points behind) this game is seen as a sort of "must win" if they are to have any chance of stripping Juve of their top dog title.

Cagliari

The Sardinian's are currently on a six game winless streak that has seen them lose four and draw two games but they do however still remain in the top six which is testament to how well they did during the first half of the season.

Tough schedule

An aspect that should not be overlooked is the fact that three of the defeats came against Juventus, Lazio and Milan and the fourth away at Udinese which is honestly to be expected (bar the Udinese defeat) meaning that the situation is currently very far from dire.

Tough times against top teams

It does however shine a light on the fact that Cagliari apparently struggle against the top sides which in turn means that they will more than likely have issues landing a top six finish (Europa league next season) at the end of the season.

Things will get better, just not right now

I am of the strong belief that Cagliari will start winning again due to the quality they have in the squad, i honestly believe it to be inevitable but i also believe that this turnaround will not come against Inter, they are a level too high at the moment.

Betting tip

Inter have been phenomenal despite their recent, minor "setbacks" whilst Cagliari obviously have a hard time against the top teams which is why i will be backing an Inter (-1) handicap win at 83/100 with Betway.
