Hungary vs. Portugal
Hungary and Portugal face off in Hungary during group f's first game out. Will current holders Portugal kick their campaign off with an important win against the groups weakest opponents or will Hungary defy the odds and beat the champions?
Hungary
The Hungarian's enter the tournament in great form following an unbeaten run of eleven consecutive games, of which they won seven. However, it must be said that none of those eleven games were against a team anywhere near Portugals capacity with the best teams being Serbia, Turkey, and Russia.
Their goal difference of 20-8 during that eleven game streak is nonetheless impressive and the fact that they managed to qualify means that they are not, by any means, pushovers.
With that said, their warmup game against Ireland prior to the Euro's ended in a very drab, and uninspiring 0-0 draw where Hungary's deficiencies were on full display. If they perform as they did against Ireland they will be in for a long evening.
Portugal
Current champions Portugal, like their Hungarian counterpart, enter the Euro's off the back of an immense run of form spanning back to November and including ten wins, three draws, as well as a 0-1 defeat to France.
Ronaldo and co. are one of the major candidates to lift the trophy come July and it is easy to guess why, given the ridiculous talent they have in their ranks. Furthermore, the Portuguese have a fully fit squad to choose from meaning that their starting eleven will be STACKED.
Portugal swept Israel aside in a highly impressive 4-0 win during their pre-tournament friendly without ever leaving second gear, if they can perform as they did then, or even change to first gear Hungary should be chance-less.
Betting tip
The difference in quality between the sides is immense and given that Portugal have a fully fit and in form squad to choose from, i do not realistically see Hungary winning this, despite their home advantage. I will be backing Portugal to win and both teams to score - no at 2.15 with Betway.
