Goalfest in Group G
It’s time for Group G’s most anticipated meeting between already qualified England and Belgium. Both teams have gone all out and over two games have an equal goal tally of 8-2. I think we’re going to see a noteworthy match with a few goals on top of that.
With such an even footing between the teams, a draw would mean top spot would be decided by fair play records, and incredibly the amount of yellow cards each team has in total would decide it.
Belgium and England play last out of all the the final group round games, meaning they’ll know which team 1st and 2nd place will play beforehand. With a number of skillful players on the pitch wanting to show what they’re made of against a worthy opponent the goals are sure to fly in.
England
England started their World Cup by beating Tunisia 2-1 after Harry Kane knocked one in off his head in the final minutes of the game. England then went on to smash Panama 5-0 in the first half of their second game, finishing the match 6-1 at the end.
Their attack has been outstanding
England’s defence has typically been its strongest asset up to now, but has looked a little out of sorts on occasion, letting in a goal against weaker opposition. In contrast their attack has been outstanding, with Jesse Lingard even improving on his form from the domestic season. Captain Harry Kane is brimming with self-confidence as usually and is currently leading the race for the Golden Boot.
Belgium
Even Belgium are going like a bullet train in this year’s tournament. They love to attack and have average 4 goals per match so far. Romelu Lukaku is looking sharp, more clinical than he has for Manchester United last season. It’s the same story for Chelsea’s Eden Hazard. They’re definitely a dangerous side, but just like England they’ve let in two unnecessary goals.
Match Tips
I don’t see any other option than for this one to be a goalfest. Both teams are offensive and confident going forward at that. Neither have a lot to lose, and if they bench some key players they both, particularly England, have a number of hungry attackers to step in and will want to prove their worth for the coming games.
I’m playing odds of 23/20 (2.15) with LeoVegas on there being more than 2.5 goals in the match overall.
