Serbia will edge their way to a winner
Costa Rica and Serbia meet on Sunday at 1pm in a match that seems a little uncertain. Costa Rica have their structure and organisation in place, but Serbia are a dominant team with quality across the field. I think that Costa Rica will rise to meet the challenge but they won’t be able to take it the whole way.
Serbia
Serbia are an extremely direct team with strength and power, and will look for the most direct route towards the goal. They go at the opposition with crosses, shots and rebounds. The Serbians tend to create a lot of chances, and in their pre-tournament friendlies they’ve had over 10 shots on goal per match. Winning 5-1- against Bolivia was a flash in the pan for Serbia, and they generally average between one and two goals a match, and stay tight at the back.
Costa Rica
Costa Rica aren’t an especially dangerous team in attack, but are quite tight defensively. On average their games seldom finish with more than 2.5 goals. Their pre-tournament friendlies finished with two losses, but only by a 1-0 margin. They have lost with larger margins against better sides such as Spain or Belgium, but generally it’s nearly always 1-0, 1-1 or 0-1. Real Madrid keeper Keylor Navas plays a large in keeping the goals out.
Betting Tip
Serbia are a better team and I think they’ll create a number of dangerous chances against Costa Rica. Costa Rica will be limited in their opportunities to go forward with a strong defensive line comprising of Kolarov, Ivanovic. Costa Rica and Keylor Navas will do their best to keep Serbia from scoring for as long as possible, but in the end Serbia will find a way and edge it 1-0, maybe even from a Mitrovic header.
I’m going to play for Serbia to win the game 1-0 at odds of 17/10 (2.70) with Bethard.
