Heavyweight showdown
France welcome Portugal to the revered Stade de France on Sunday in a real heavyweight showdown between two of arguably the best teams in the world right now. Both teams have two wins from as many games meaning the top spot is up for grabs making this game even more interesting.
France
The current World Cup champions are currently on a 10 game streak without having lost a game stretching all the way back to the 8th of June 2019 which is quite the stretch.
Definitely in form
Didier Deschamps men seem to be firing on all cylinders as well having scored 16(!) times in their last 5 games whilst only conceding 4 during the same period. The French are most recently coming coming off the back of a 7-1 rout of a more than decent Ukraine side whilst fielding a heavily rotated squad themselves.
The French have no notable absentees at all meaning they will be fielding their strongest squad possible, this might only be the Nations League but there is a lot of prestige at stake here.
Portugal
The Portuguese, much like the French, have a great record losing only 1 of their last 11 games whilst winning 7 of them. They beat both Sweden and Croatia with relative ease and have the best goal difference in the group (+5) which is a statement in itself.
Lacking in some parts
Fernando Santos's attack is undeniably lethal with Ronaldo leading the charge but their midfield is somewhat limited in comparison to their French counterpart which is where the biggest impact in games can be made.
Portugal fielded a rather strong side in their recent draw against Spain with the exception of a couple of players and were totally overrun in the middle of the park against a limited Spain squad which is not a good indicator when coming up against this French team.
Betting tip
The French are overall a better team which is why i will be backing France to win at 2.10 with Betway.
