Napoli to start with a win in Florence
The new Serie A season kicks off as the Viola host Napoli in what should be an entertaining affair. Can Ancelotti’s side get off to a winning start in Florence? Have a read of our preview here:
Napoli looking formidable
The big news this summer is usually taking place in Turin and it has to be said that the signings of Aaron Ramsey and Matthijs de Ligt plus a host of others are impressive but hardly surprising. The stand out transfer in Serie A, however, has to be Napoli’s successful chase to bring in Kostas Manolas.
The Greek defender was being targeted by the likes of Arsenal but instead stayed in Serie A to form what should be one of the most formidable defensive partnerships with Kalidou Koulibaly.
This will be an exciting campaign for Ancelotti’s side and for good reason. He has a plethora of attacking talent at his disposal and has strengthened in areas with sensible, well-reasoned additions.
The pick up of Empoli defender Giovani Di Lorenzo is an under the radar addition as is Eljif Elmas from Fenerbahce. With Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne still going strong, this should be another tilt near the top for the Partenopei.
All change in Florence
This summer saw Rocco Commisso take over the reins at Fiorentina and the new president has already set about trying to bring the Viola to the attention of the wider world. From photos in the streets to kit launches on the Hudson River, this is a man with ambition and energy and he has given Vincenzo Montella the means to challenge for Europe this season.
He has kept Federico Chiesa and Giovanni Simeone while adding the likes of Erick Pulgar. The squad is competitive but it will take time for this team to come together after they struggled to assert themselves last season.
Playing against a seasoned Napoli outfit with a manager that knows how to win will be a difficult start for the home side but it promises to be a far better campaign in Florence in 2019/20.
Fiorentina v Napoli betting tip
Even though this season is likely to see the Scudetto go to Juventus yet again, Napoli have a strong squad and will look to start the season with a win to give their fans hope. It is likely that they will come out on top in this encounter so backing Napoli to win at odds of 4/5 is our tip in this one.
