Finland vs. Russia
Finland and Russia clash at Saint Petersburg Stadium in, you guessed it, Saint Petersburg during group B's second round of games. Will Finland snatch a point or three and cement their play-off spot or will Russia recover after their defeat to Belgium and put themselves in the running?
Finland
The Finnish beat Denmark in their first game courtesy of a second half header from Pohjanpalo but the win was severely overshadowed by Eriksen's collaps. Thankfully, Eriksen is recovering in the hospital and catastrophe was averted. However, it must be said that Eriksen's collapse threw the Danes off-balance and what looked like a sure Danish win ended in a Finnish one instead, despite a penalty and a plethora of big chances for the Dane's.
The win ended a six game winless streak and will fill the Finnish with hope given that they are not only participating in their first ever major tournament, but also, they are now potentially only ninety minutes away from advancing to the knockout stages.
It will not however be easy, especially given how little they had to offer against Denmark. Finland ended the game with a 37% possession, one shot on goal, and one goal. Oh, and zero corners.
Russia
The Russian's were brutally outclassed against Belgium despite having home advantage but honestly, when looking at Belgiums team sheet, it was honestly inevitable. The Russian's will also be acutely aware of the fact that Finland is the groups worst team and if they fail to win on Wednesday, they will most likely miss out on the knockout stage.
Russia are extremely fortunate due to the fact that they enjoy home advantage yet again, no little thing given that fans are allowed back into the stadiums.
Russia pride themselves with having a solid defence, a factor that will more than probably play a huge role against a Finnish side that did not perform very well in the final third last time out.
Betting tip
This is a huge game for Finland as domestic sentiment towards their Russian neighbours is chilly, at best. However, Russia are the better side and judging by Finland's last outing, i believe Russia will edge this one, which is why i will be backing Russia to win and under 3.5 goals at 2.15 with Betway.
