Expecting a cleansheet
Both Smolevichy and Energetik-BGU came away from game week 6 nursing their wounds after defeats. They face each other on Friday afternoon. Who will bounce back in round 7? Have a read of our preview here:
Energetik-BGU’s struggles continue
Energetik-BGU started the season looking extremely healthy. The side from Minsk are one of four teams from the capital plying their trade in this season’s Belarusian Premier League and it looked as though Vladimir Belyavskiy’s side were going to be contenders.
Following week three of the campaign, they had picked up nine points from nine and had not conceded a single goal. An impressive start indeed, but it was not to last long.
Week four saw them slip to a defeat against fellow early front-runners Torpedo BelAZ which started a run of three straight defeats without scoring. Quite a contrast to the first weeks of the season.
Last weekend they were undone by a second-half blitz at Neman Grodno, who looked really dangerous when in possession. A well-worked opener was added to following a goalkeeping error from Denis Sadovskiy and sealed in style by a wonderful team goal for the third.
It leaves Energetik in mid-table with much to work on.
We’ll win again, don’t know when
Smolevichy are not enjoying the start to the Premier League campaign. The side from just outside Minsk were promoted as runners-up in the first league last season and they are yet to adapt to the new level.
After back-to-back draws, they came crashing down at home to Dinamo Minsk last weekend, falling to a 3-1 defeat at home.
It leaves them second from bottom with three defeats and three draws from six matches and another tough trip to the capital on Friday afternoon.
Energetik-BGU vs Smolevichy betting tip
Energetik-BGU will be desperate to get back to winning ways as they host struggling Smolevichy. There is unlikely to be a better opponent to face right now so we are backing the home side to win, but given their extraordinary record of either keeping a clean-sheet or failing to score, we’re going with both teams to score – No, at odds of 13/20 with 888sport.
