Dinamos face off
Last season’s champions Dinamo Brest host historic big-boys Dinamo Minsk in the final match-up of round eight on Sunday. Can the home side show why they were title winners last season? Have a read of our preview here:
Dinamo Brest keep everyone guessing
Dinamo Brest have been very hard to read this season. You knew it would be hard for them to duplicate the form that saw them win their first-ever title last year, but it has been a bit of a struggle so far.
Much like the Leicester City team of 2016-17, this Brest outfit have a lot to live up to following an excellent year in 2018-19 and it has proven harder than expected in the opening weeks of the campaign.
Last weekend they appeared to be back to their best, thrashing bottom club Belshina on the road, but it is hard to tell whether that will see them improve heading into a more challenging game against Dinamo Minsk.
Belshina have been poor this season, so beating them 3-0 was not a huge shock but they still had to put in a professional performance. An opening own goal by Vladislav Yasyukovich was added to by strikes from Mikhail Gordeychuk and Dzyanis Laptev.
It was an important win after two defeat on the bounce against sides not expected to challenge this season.
The game against Dinamo Minsk will be another true marker of their current level and could indicate whether a title defence is even remotely realistic.
Dinamo Minsk yet to convince
Much like the opponents they are facing, Dinamo Minsk have not done a good job convincing anyone they will be capable of finishing higher than the fourth-place finish they earned last year.
The season continued its up and down path last weekend when they were beaten at home by table-toppers Slutsk despite outshooting them 20 to five.
They know they have the ability to win, having picked up three victories in their seven games thus far, but four defeats suggest they are not one of the likely title challengers in 2020.
Dinamo Brest vs. Dinamo Minsk betting tip
Neither side can really be seen as favourites heading into this one seeing as they are separated by just two points, but both have only failed to score twice this season. With that in mind, we are backing both teams to score at even odds with Betfair in this one.
