Los Rojiblancos back in business
La Liga is back from their winter siesta when Atletico Madrid welcome Levante to the Wanda Metropolitano. Both teams ended the first half of their seasons with three straight wins and will probably have begrudgingly entered the winter break wanting to instead keep the momentum up but hey, life's not fair.
Atletico Madrid
Diego Simeone's men find themselves in 4th only seven points behind leaders Barcelona which is a minor miracle due to the fact that Atleti had only won two out of their ten games prior to their small resurgence before the break.
Strong at home
Los Rojiblancos are, per usual, extremely strong on their home turf and have only lost on one occasion in all competitions this season. That defeat came against none other than Barcelona during the 86th minute in an otherwise tight game but their record is otherwise impressive.
Simeone's renowned defence still kicking
Atletico's defence is also functioning well despite some high-profile departures over the past year which can be seen in the fact that they have kept a clean sheet in five of their nine home games so far.
As long as their frontline come through with a half-decent performance at minimum they should seal the deal with relative ease.
Levante
Granota (the frogs)*laughs* ended the first half of the season with successive wins and high spirits which is always good fun for all involved. However, the continuation of the good times is in major peril with their trip to the capital on the horizon.
Poor travellers
Paco Lopez's men have had a tough time on the road this season having recorded three wins and six defeats whilst shipping 17 goals in the process which is naturally not a good omen when travelling to one of the best sides in the world.
This was never going to be a fixture where a good result was expected, even less now that Atletico may have turned a corner following three straight victories so all thats left is to wish them good luck.
Betting tip
Odds of a straight Atletico win are too low for comfort which is why i will be backing an Atletico Madrid to win and both teams to score NO at 19/20 with Betway.
