The Bergamaschi steamroller rolls on
A top clash in the Serie A awaits us as Atalanta welcome Cagliari to Bergamo on Sunday afternoon. Both teams have put together an impressive string of results in recent times and will of course be hoping to continue but that is the less likely of all alternatives. Read on for more!
Atalanta
La Dea are as impressive as ever and are coming off the back of a 2-2 draw away at Napoli which extended their unbeaten run to eight games in league play. Five of those eight have ended in victory leaving Atalanta third, below Inter but above Roma in one of the most competitive Serie A starts in a long time.
Atalanta's depth is helping
Gian Piero Gasperini's men have been outstanding and seeing how their Champions League venture has not really gone to plan they will be thirsting for another shot next season, the tight schedule that comes with multiple obligations has so far not been an issue either due to some smart spending over the summer.
If interested in reading a little more about their goal difference, scoring and conceding alike you can find that here in a previous tip i wrote a fortnight ago.
Crazy goal-scoring form
Atalanta have scored ten goals in their last two home games and i can imagine they will be absolutely buzzing to get out and show their home fans that they are fully capable of challenging Juve and Inter for the title and deserve the title of 'dark horse' in the race for the Scudetto.
Cagliari
The Sardinian's might not be as scintillating in the goal-scoring department as Sunday's opposition but they have fought hard and most deservedly find themselves at a joint seventh place, only below Napoli and Lazio on goal difference.
Hard to beat
I Rossoblu are, just like Atalanta, on an eight game defeat-less run and have within that streak both beaten Napoli and drawn Rome away from home which is no small feat for a team with not even half the financial muscle of said teams.
Stingy, but successful
Their goal difference of 16-10 might not be lighting the Serie A on fire but is an indicator that they are capable of grinding out one goal wins which is definitely a valuable talent in itself.
Bergamo is a hard place to travel to but with the likes of Simeone, Nainggolan and solid goalkeeper Robin Olsen anything is apparently possible.
Betting tip
Both teams are in fine form and have both scored in a vast majority of their games which is why will be backing Atalanta win and both teams to score at the fine odds of 3/2 with Betway.
