La Dea and the leagues punching bag
Atalanta welcome SPAL to Bergamo on Monday evening in the final game of matchday 20. Atalanta are fighting for a Champions League spot whilst SPAL are in desperate need of points if they are to leave last place.
Atalanta
La Dea were in the midst of a rocky patch back in November and things were undoubtedly looking a tad bit worrying for the Atalanta faithful but boy have they bounced back in style.
An in form La Dea
Four wins in their last six along with a draw has seen them better the likes of Milan and Parma along with drawing away at Inter which is about as good as anyone could have hoped for.
Deadly in front of goal
Coach Gasperini and co. have been absolutely lighting it up this past month having scored 18(!) goals in their last six which will surely have SPAL shaking in their boots.
Whats more is that top-scorer Duvan Zapata has finally recovered from his thigh injury and will be longing to add to his tally of 6 six goals in 7 starts. Good time to be an Atalanta fan.
SPAL
The Estensi can be found at rockbottom following an absolutely horrible run of form that has yielded three wins, three draws and thirteen(!) defeats in league play.
Torrid season
Coach Leonardo Semplici's side have scored an absolute league low of 12 goals which is nothing short of shocking but have interestingly enough only conceded 29 which is actually substantially better than their fellow rockbottom dwellers.
But then again, conceding few goals matters not if you do not score any and that is an issue i do not see SPAL fixing any time soon given that they just do not have the quality in their ranks.
It gets worse on the road
The majority of what few points they have picked up have come at home meaning that their away form must be beyond bad, and it is. Out of their ten away games, eight have ended in defeat along with a win and a draw which leaves them only second to last in the away game table.
There is absolutely no reason to believe that they have suddenly turned a corner and are able to compete with the likes of Atalanta, or any other top-half team meaning that SPAL are in for a long night.
Betting tip
Atalanta are looking sublime whilst SPAL are simply the opposite which is why i will be backing an Atalanta (-2) handicap win at 13/10 with Betway.
