Lunchtime match in Italy = goals
We have a really exciting weekend of football ahead of us in the Serie A, with AC Milan vs. Juventus as perhaps the pick of the bunch. Earlier in the day Atalanta will play Inter and I believe there will be plenty of goals in this one.
Atalanta
- Average goals: 2.91 p/m
Atalanta endured a tough start to the season where a number of bad results didn't really reflect the level of their performances. They were playing good football and it was really just a matter of time before they would start to get the results they deserved. After eight fixtures they only had one win, but now after eleven fixtures they have four wins with three straight victories in a row. It's the goal scoring issue which has largely been solved and now Atalanta have scored ten goals in their past three matches against the relatively weaker opposition of Chievo, Parma and Bologna. But there is still more to come from their attacking players, in particular Papu Gomez, who has much more to give with only one goal in the past ten matches. This weekend they will face much better opposition than their last few matches but at their home ground and in with a good run of form there is a good chance that they'll notch up three points against Inter Milan.
Inter
- Average goals: 2.45 p/m
Inter have hit the ground running this year and are performing well in both Serie A and in the Champions League. Inter find themselves in second place together with Napoli and six points behind Juventus with 11 matches played. They are also in great form, with seven straight wins in the Serie A and a goal difference of 9-0 in the last three matches. Over the weekend they won 5-0 at home against Genoa with Inter showing that their attack can function even without their main goalscorer Mauro Icardi who was rested before this week's match against Barcelona. This betting tip was written just before the Barcelona game which means there is a risk that things can occur which may alter my bet, for example, if Icardi gets injured then the odds will be raised and a defensive injury will mean that the odds will drop. Something to keep an eye on.
Betting Tip
These two teams are in great form. If you look at their last three games you'll see that they've picked up nine points each with a goal difference of 10-2 for Atalanta and 9-0 for Inter. Both their attacks look really strong and I believe there will be goals in this game. The odds for 1x2 are pretty equal and both teams believe they can take three points. I think this means it will be an open game that will result in a number of goals. I think that both teams will find the net, but the odds for 'both teams to score' are too low at 7/10. In my book, there is a 55% likelihood that the match will finish with over 2.5 goals and thus there is some real value in betting on 'Over 2.5 Goals' at odds of 9/10 with Unibet.
The old myth of lunch-time matches in the Serie A being goal fests might just come true this Sunday.
Good Luck!
