The unicorns and the kids
Amiens welcome Lyon to the Stade le la Licorne in northern France. The international break came at a fortunate time for both teams with the pair of them racking up a couple of highly undesirable results. Will Amiens improve upon their solitary win or will Lyon consign them to another week in the relegation zone?
Amiens
Luka Elsner's men have had a disappointing start to the season with 3 defeats and a single win on record. They have however been quite unlucky in a couple of those defeats, they conceded against Nice in the 95th minute after having played with 10 men for over 60 minutes which is basically exactly what happened in their 2-1 defeat at home to Nantes as well.
Lyon have become somewhat of a boogieman for Amiens with Les Licornes losing all 6 of their prior meetings against them and only managing to score 2 goals in the process, not a very good omen at all.
I mentioned a little earlier that Amiens might have been a bit unlucky during a couple of games but i failed to mention that they were outright horrendous in their last outing against Toulouse and only managed a measly 2 shots on target. If they perform as poorly against this vicious Lyon side they will not be going to bed a happy bunch.
Lyon
Sylvinho's men kicked off the season in fashion winning their first 2 games with a goal difference of 9-0 but stuttered to a 1-0 defeat away at Montpellier and a 1-1 draw at home to Bordeaux after early second half sending-off's in both games.
This is the perfect opposition for Les Gones to get back to winning-ways and if they can avoid any unnecessary red cards i really can't see them not punishing an inferior Amiens side.
A couple facts to back my thesis up are that Lyon, for starters, have absolutely dominated Amiens in their h2h meetings and lead 6 games to nil. The second fact is that Lyon are dangerous on the road, they have scored over 2.5 goals in 4 of their last 5 games and are likely to do so again against a faltering Amiens side.
Betting tip
Most things are pointing towards the visitors outmaneuvering the hosts which is why i will be backing a Lyon win at 19/25 with Bethard.
