Can Ajax really put up a fight?
Ajax will host Real Madrid in the Champions league this week, in a game that I really can't see them winning. The Madrid giants are on a roll at the moment, and I foresee them returning to Spain on Tuesday night with a reassuring victory in the bag.
Los Blancos head into this match with a confidence boosting 3-1 win in the derby against Atlético. Real Madrid were as impressive as Atlético were ineffective and Solari will have taken some real positives from the game. I think with their experience in this tournament, an away victory is perfectly possible.
Last five matches for Real Madrid
- Atlético Madrid – Real Madrid 1-3
- Barcelona – Real Madrid 1-1
- Real Madrid – Alaves 3-0
- Girona – Real Madrid 0-3
- Espanyol – Real Madrid 2-4
De Godenzonen are out of form at the moment, having lost a seemingly secure top spot in the league to PSV over recent weeks. They have only won two of their last five matches, one of which was a cup win.
Last five matches for Ajax
- Heracles – Ajax 1-0
- Ajax – Venlo 6-0
- Feyenoord – Ajax 6-2
- Ajax – Heerenveen 3-1
- Ajax – Heerenveen 4-4
These results do not make for easy reading, and by the looks of it they are really going to struggle against a team like Real Madrid, especially in their current form. I think there is real value in backing the away team at these odds.
-1 (Asian handicap) Real Madrid is my bet at odds of 21/20. In order to win, Real Madrid need to win by at least two goals which I see them doing with ease.
I can see a 1-3/0-2 win for Real Madrid.
Happy betting!
