Make or break
Heavyweights AIK and Malmö face off in a crucial game during match-day 13 of the Swedish Allsvenskan. First place Malmö will be looking to extend their streak of 11 games without defeat and cement their lead whilst 3rd placed AIK are playing a desperate game of catch-up finding themselves 6 points behind their biggest rivals.
AIK
Current champions AIK have already lost more games (3) this season than they did all of last season (1 loss) and find themselves 6 points behind Malmö which makes this somewhat of a make or break game. What's worse for the team from the capital is that they recently lost to fellow title chasing Norrköping making this game all the more important.
AIK have simply not been the same since the departure of central midfielder Kristoffer Olsson, who was voted as the leagues best midfielder last year. The fact that he, along with a few others such as veteran centre back Dimitriadis who was sent off during their last game will not be featuring is a huge cause for concern.
After AIK's bleak midweek 0-2 defeat at HOME to Norrköping this is definitely the last fixture they would have wanted and seeing as how AIK's usual rock solid defence is leaking i would be very worried if i was a fan.
Malmö
The powerhouse that is Malmö have been steamrolling everyone and everything this season and currently sit top of the pile with a 6 point cushion down to second. The team from the south of Sweden are currently on a 11 game streak without defeat and should be revving to go after a month long summer break.
This is on paper the hardest fixture of the year, away to AIK in Stockholm but it could definitely not have come at a better time. AIK are reeling from a midweek home defeat and will be very worried due to the fact that if Malmö win they will be 9 points ahead which basically means that we'd might as well give them the trophy immediately.
Another extremely positive aspect is that Malmö are set to sell a couple of their best players soon making this fixture even more fortunate for them and i expect them to take full advantage of it.
Betting tip
Due to the last 6 fixtures between the sides ending with under 2.5 goals and 4 of those ending in draws and the fact that AIK always plays destructive, defensive and boring football i will be backing Under 2.5 goals at 13/25 with Bethard.
For those looking for something safer Malmö win or no bet at 16/25 looks enticing
For those looking for high risk and high reward a draw at 41/20 is looking very attractive.
