AC Milan to push title chasing Atalanta hard
There is a feeling in Italy that only one team can truly challenge Juventus for the title this season and team is Atalanta. They take on AC Milan at the San Siro on Friday, but can they close the gap on the leaders? Have a read of our preview here:
Another season of rebuilding for Milan
A poor start to the season has left Milan on the outside looking in as they face another year without Champions League football.
It is a frustrating time for the Rossoneri faithful. They are watching their side put in some excellent performances while being nowhere near the leaders to take advantage.
To cap it off, Inter, their city rivals, are sitting six points behind the leaders Juventus having captured the signature of several big-name stars last summer.
Stefano Pioli looks to be doing some good work and since the lockdown, Milan have picked up a string of impressive results against some of the best teams in Serie A.
They beat Juventus 4-2, Lazio 3-0, drew with Napoli away 2-2 and beat Roma 2-0. If Milan stick with him, there could be something to look forward to next season.
Is the title challenge on?
Seven points separate Atalanta and Juventus at the time of writing. That gap could close even more by the time they face Milan on Friday night.
They are 13 unbeaten and that could be 15 before meeting Pioli’s men as games continue to come thick and fast.
The remaining games will not daunt them given the performances they have put in during the recent run. They also have a squad with players capable of changing the game from the bench.
The only question is can they beat other in-form sides. Milan are on a great run but the mouth-watering match is on the final day when they face Inter at home.
It’s unlikely, but this could be a match that sees both sides needing a win to have a chance at the title, that would be superb.
They will be going for it against Milan, they don’t play any other way, so buckle in for what should be a fascinating match.
