Saturday's key games:

  • Roma vs. Lazio (Serie A, 14.00 BST)
  • Chelsea vs. Liverpool (Premier League, 17.30 BST)
  • Real Madrid vs. Atlético Madrid (La Liga, 19.45 BST)

    Roma vs. Lazio (14.00 BST)

The Derby della Capitale is one of the most intense fixtures in Serie A. Even if the two Rome sides aren’t challenging for the league, the intensity is always hitting fever pitch. If you asked some Roma and Lazio fans, they’d tell you that winning the derby is more important than anything else. That’s how big this is.

The two Roma sides will be desperate to get one over each other after some tense battles in recent years. They’ve traded blows with only one draw between them and sharing two victories a piece.

Roma are desperate to steal three points in a bid to get a faltering start to the Serie A season going. What better way to do it than against their rivals.

    Stats: Roma vs. Lazio

    Position in Table

    • Lazio: 4th, 12 points
    • Roma: 10th, 8 points

    Form

    • Roma: L-W-W-D-W
    • Lazio: W-W-W-D-L

    Previous Meetings

    • Lazio - Roma: 0-0 (15/4 2018)
    • Roma - Lazio: 2-1 (18/11 2017)
    • Roma - Lazio: 1-3 (30/4 2017)
    • Roma - Lazio: 3-2 (4/4 2017)
    • Lazio - Roma: 2-0 (1/3 2017)

    Key things to consider:

    • Roma have had a terrible start to the season with manager Di Francesco being questioned from all angles. A 4-0 battering of bottom side Frosinone midweek will boost their confidence.
    • Roma have all of their players available for the derby
    • Lazio had a tough start to the season with two losses against last season’s top two Napoli and Juventus but now won five on the bounce.
    • Lazio rotated their squad midweek so their big guns should be fresh

    Chelsea vs. Liverpool (17.30 BST)

Arguably the biggest grudge match in the Premier League season so far. Chelsea and Liverpool are going up against each other for the second time this week in a top of the table tussle. Jürgen Klopp and Maurizio Sarri’s sides are playing free flowing, attacking football and it’ll be interesting to see how they line up tactically in their hardest match up so far.

Both Liverpool and Chelsea will be keen to stamp their authority on the match and make a statement of superiority over their close rivals. Both have an eye on the Premier League Crown.

    Stats: Chelsea vs. Liverpool

    Position in Table

    • Liverpool: 1st, 18 points
    • Chelsea: 3rd, 16 points

    Form

    • Chelsea: W-D-W-W-W
    • Liverpool: L-W-W-W-W

    Previous Meetings

    • Liverpool - Chelsea: 1-2 (26/9 2018)
    • Chelsea - Liverpool: 1-0 (6/5 2018)
    • Liverpool - Chelsea: 1-1 (25/11 2017)
    • Liverpool - Chelsea: 1-1 (31/1 2017)
    • Chelsea - Liverpool: 1-2 (16/9 2016)

    Key things to consider:

    • Christensen and Rüdiger are looking doubtful so Chelsea’s defence could line up a little weak
    • Both teams are undefeated in the league with only Chelsea’s one draw separating them
    • Liverpool have two tough matches coming up against Napoli and Man City next season. This could play a factor in match selection

Real Madrid vs. Atlético Madrid (19.45 BST)

Cross town rivals Real and Atlético are experiencing mixed seasons at the moment. Real have had a great start, and in the process have answered their critics to show they can manage without Cristiano Ronaldo. But a fantastic battering at Sevilla in midweek raises questions about their consistency and tactical fluidity under pressure. They were lucky Barcelona also lost on the same day to keep them on level points at the top of the table with their bitter Catalan rivals

In contrast, Atlético have started their La Liga campaign poorly but managed to win in midweek with a resounding 3-0 victory at home over Huesca. It will give them a much needed boost of confidence ahead of El Derby Madrileno on Saturday night.

Real will be looking for revenge after the embarrassment they suffered against Atlético when they lost the European Super Cup at the start of the season. Atletico have clawed back after a disappointing start and are only two points behind rivals Real. They won't want to miss this opportunity to hop over into second spot.

    Form

    • Real Madrid: L-W-W-D-W
    • Atletico Madrid: W-W-W-D-W

    Position in Table

    • Real Madrid: 2nd, 13 points
    • Atletico Madrid: 3rd, 11 points

    Previous Meetings

    • Atletico Madrid - Real Madrid: 2-1 (10/5 2017)
