Champions League Qualifiers Final Round

The grand finale of the Champions League qualifiers gets under away on Tuesday and Wednesday night with a number of big teams hoping to book their place in the Group Stage of the competition.

Recent competitors Ajax, Red Star Belgrade, Young Boys, and Olympiakos are all vying for spot in this year’s competition. There’s a lot at stake and much more to miss out on.

Ajax vs. APOEL Nicosia (Tuesday 19 August. BTSport2, 20.00)

APOEL Nicosia Ajax Champions League Qualification 1

APOEL have forged a name for themselves in European competition of the last couple of decades. Rarely do they miss out on European competition and are seasoned operators at navigating the Champions League qualifying rounds.

Ajax made a hash of the previous round which has spiked the odds

Nevertheless they’re coming up against last year’s semi finalists Ajax who aren’t to be trifled with.

Having said that Ajax made a bit of a hash of overcoming PAOK in the previous round, conceding four goals over two legs against the Greek champions. The odds for an Ajax home win have spiked because of that.

Olympiakos vs. Krasnodar (Wednesday 20 August. BTSport3, 20.00)

    Olympiakos Krasnodar Champions League Qualification

Champions League newcomers Krasnodar stunned last year’s quarter finalists after scoring two bursting goals in the first 12 minutes of their second leg and in Porto no less. When they added a third on 33 minutes in was too little too late for Porto.

Olympiakos are still to concede a goal in the UCL Qualifiers but Krasnodar are hungry to make their debut

Now the Russians are taking on Olympiakos, once a regular feature of the Champions League. The Greeks are looking for a way back in.

Defeating Turkish upstarts Istanbul Basaksehir in the previous round without conceding a single goal was no mean feat for Piraeus.

      Europa League Qualification

The Europa League is also in its final iteration to determine who joins the Group Stage. The likes of PSV, Eintracht Frankfurt, Celtic, and Wolves are still in the mix and need to overcome tricky opponents before they seal the deal.

Celtic vs. AIK Stockholm (Thursday 22 August, BTSport TBD, 19.45)

      Celtic AIK Europa League Qualification

The Celtic Park faithful will be kicking themselves for losing out to Romanian out Cluj last week. It all seemed to be going so promisingly, now the Scots have drawn Swedish champions AIK in a last ditch attempt to make it into European competition this season.

A Celtic win is higher odds than usual

Such is the nature of the Swedish league, AIK represent considerably less competition than Cluj. Though Celtic made such a mess of it last week a straight Celtic win is has higher odds than usual.

AIK have conceded and scored in all of their previous five games.

Torino vs. Wolves (Thursday 22 August. Premier Sports 1, 20.00)

        Torino Wolves Europa League Qualification

Wolves continue their bid for European football for the first time since 1980. Seeing off Crusaders and Armenian's Pyunik Yerevan in storming style.

They've stumbled at the start of their domestic campaign but have looked solid out of possession and constantly threaten to counter when the opposition takes their eye off the ball.

The prospect of facing a strong PL side could derail their first fixture in Serie A next weekend

Torino are still waiting to get their season started and the prospect of facing a strong Premier League side on the rise could derail their first weekend in Serie A when they have to face Sassuolo on Sunday.

A draw no bet give good insurance with such tight odds

The odds are understandably tight with the bookies hedging their bets on the winner. A draw no bet diminishes the odds but still provides good insurance should your bet go awry.
