Straight shoot-out in Spain
Spain host Sweden for a crunch encounter in Group B on Sunday evening. The Spaniards have got away with one in this group and may even still fall to a play-off place finish. Spain are top of the group just one point above the Swedes with nothing else to play for between the other three nations. Sweden lost 2-0 in Georgia in midweek which was a crushing blow and means that they will likely have to go through the play-offs process unless they can pull off a memorable win in Spain. Luis Enrique’s men are overwhelming favourites as they should be after their performances at the Euros and in the Nations League. However, their 1-0 win in Greece last time out was not wholly convincing.
Ones to watch
Zlatan Ibrahimovic at 40 years old will be desperate to turn up in a big game as he always seems to do but his strike partner is probably the more dangerous on the night. 22-year-old Alexander Isak is one of the exciting up and coming strikers in Europe and is destined for a big move away from Real Sociedad in the coming years. Dejan Kulusevski is another excellent precocious forward, he did not start in Georgia, somehow, but the Juventus livewire will be sure to cause problems for the Spain backline if they are not on their game.
Pablo Sarabia scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot in Greece and is growing into a senior role within the squad.
Goals?
The angle for this one, the importance of the game makes it more inclined to an unders punt and therefore that is the angle into this fixture.
- Spain have scored in all of their last 11.
- Spain have conceded in six of ten.
- Spain have seen both teams score in six of ten.
- Spain have seen over 2.5 goals in six of ten.
- Sweden have scored in eight of ten.
- Sweden have conceded in six of ten.
- Sweden have seen both teams score in five of ten.
- Sweden have seen over 2.5 goals in five of ten.
Spain are possibly a little too short in looking outside of a goals angle. Sweden will react to their disappointing result last time out, but whether it will be enough remains to be seen.
