Juve value in Rome
Roma host Juventus in hopes of kickstarting the second half of their season under Jose Mourinho. Roma did improve in the months before the winter break and have looked much more solid defensively than they did at the start of the season. Juventus are favourites and despite their below par start to the season they are actually trending as a team that could force their way into the race for the Scudetto this term. The whole point of bringing Massimiliano Allegri back into the fold was to regain the league title, it can still be achieved but it is a longshot, the Old Lady may be focussing more on the Champions League.
Process
Juve have scored less than Roma but have a marginally better attacking process. Both sides are enterprising in the final third as are the vast majority of sides in Serie A this season, but Juve edge and have an offensive contingent that could improve to put them right in contention in the second half of the season.
The Old Lady are outstanding defensively, Juve are conceding an average of just 0.93 expected goals (xG) against per game. A defensive process that with an elite attack to go with it, would run them pretty close to joining Inter Milan at the summit of Serie A. Roma have only conceded six more goals than Juve but are conceding 1.34 xGA per game which means it is not surprise to see them outside of the top four in Italy.
Goals?
A potential angle as always in Serie A but an outright selection is preferred. Juve are stronger with the data and they have a clear trajectory to crash into the top four.
- Roma have scored in eight of ten.
- Roma have conceded in six of ten.
- Roma have seen both teams score in four of ten.
- Roma have seen over 2.5 goals in five of ten.
- Juve have scored in eight of ten.
- Juve have conceded in four of ten.
- Juve have seen both teams score in two of ten.
- Juve have seen over 2.5 goals in one of ten.

We definitely had the rub of the green in this one to round off an excellent week. Juve won 4-3 after going 3-1 down with Lorenzo Pellegrini missing a late penalty for the hosts.
