Reds the angle in evenly matched final
Chelsea take on Liverpool in the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium in a repeat of this season’s Carabao Cup final.
The Reds won 11-10 on penalties after one of the most entertaining goalless draws of all time.
The Blues have dropped off in the Premier League and would have had some doubts creep in around their position in the top four in recent weeks, but they were largely addressed with a 3-0 win at Leeds
United last time out.
Liverpool can still win the quadruple mathematically but the chances are that Manchester City will prove too strong domestically.
Saturday’s match provides Chelsea with their final opportunity to win a trophy this season, after flattering to deceive a touch following their Champions League triumph last season.
Background
The Blues are a match for anyone on their day and this encounter will definitely be a competitive one, however Liverpool have been a different breed in the last few months.
Jurgen Klopp’s men would have been disappointed to drop points against Tottenham Hotspur recently, but with a great chance at winning a treble this season, they will remain fully focused.
Klopp seems to have calmed down in his dislike of the English cup competitions in the last year or so, and it will only further demonstrate how much better than the rest of the country City and Liverpool are, if the Reds complete a cup double on Saturday.
Ruben Dias has burst onto the scene at Anfield since arriving from Porto in January, and it will be interesting to see which front three Klopp selects.
Diogo Jota has made a great impact since signing from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2021, but the form of Dias recently may even see him drop to the bench.
Goals?
This one could certainly be more fruitful than the Carabao Cup final, however, Chelsea’s best way into the game is to contain Liverpool to earn a foothold into the game, therefore I am preferring an outright angle heading into this encounter.
Chelsea have scored in nine of ten.
Chelsea have conceded in six of ten.
Chelsea have seen both teams score in five of ten.
Chelsea have seen over 2.5 goals in six of ten.
Liverpool have scored in all of their last 15.
Liverpool have conceded in six of ten.
Liverpool have seen both teams score in six of ten.
Liverpool have seen over 2.5 goals in six of ten.
Liverpool are the more reliable bet here, their base level has been far higher than that of the Blues this season.
