A mouth-watering encounter at the Allianz Arena
Bayern Munich have the chance to build on their six point cushion at the top of the Bundesliga when they host RB Leipzig on Saturday evening.
Julien Nagelsmann takes on his former side who were often Bayern’s toughest challengers at the top of the division in recent years.
Domenico Tedesco’s men suffered a slow start to the season under Jesse Marsch but have turned a corner since, with their performance remaining strong throughout and despite their league position of sixth, it would be a huge surprise to see them miss out on the top four of three spots in the division.
Process
The Bavarians are comfortably the best team in the league in both boxes and will be hoping to make that abundantly clear at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern’s attacking contingent are a cut above the rest as Robert Lewandowski seems to be only improving with age.
A lot has been made of the longevity of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in recent years, well Lewandowski has to be in their category and his attitude and commitment will have Bayern believing they can compete to lift the Champions League this season.
Leipzig have the second best attacking contingent in the league, behind Bayern, looking at the expected goals (xG) data.
The Red Bulls have underperformed a touch to score 38 from 43.1 xG and will be hoping they can fall on the right side of the variance in the coming months to ensure they make the leap into the top four.
On expected points Leipzig are also second, therefore it is important to not be fooled by the league table and bank on Bayern winning comfortably, it will be very interesting to see how this plays out with I for one expecting a close game.
Goals?
Certainly an option here and my selection provides value at a short price.
It is more about finding value than large odds and therefore a small price can still represent value even though the potential profit will not be as eye-catching.
Bayern have scored in all of their last 14.
Bayern have conceded in five of ten.
Bayern have seen both teams score in five of ten.
Bayern have seen over 2.5 goals in nine of ten.
Leipzig have scored in nine of ten.
Leipzig have conceded in seven of ten.
Leipzig have seen both teams score in six of ten.
Leipzig have seen over 2.5 goals in five of ten.
Bayern could get complacent and Leipzig will be keen to cause an upset.
This should be a very entertaining encounter.
